Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC), abbreviated as PAC, has the molecular formula represented as Y﹝Aln(OH)mCl3n-m﹞Y, where n = 2, 2.7 ≤ m ≤ 3.9, y > 0.
Similar to aluminum sulfate, PAC is used as a coagulant in water treatment processes. The coagulation principle is that the aluminum ions in PAC carry a positive charge, while the organic colloids in water carry negative ions. Through stirring, flocs are formed, and due to their larger specific gravity, they settle quickly. The higher the concentration of aluminum oxide, the better the coagulation effect.
